Am looking for g-grandfather William West b. 1872 Arkansas according to 1900 US Census. He married Nellie Nalls b. 1872 in Mississippi. They had children Neomi, Ruth, Jennings (my grandfather) and Ruth. I've been able to collect data on children to some degree but parents none. I did find that Nellie remarried to a Dan F. Ashby sometime
between 1910 and 1920. Can anyone help?

Thanks, so much for the kind words. I have pretty much recovered from the surgery, but, still do not have a lot of strength or stamina. I get tired so quickly. I wanted to at least get back with you before I have more surgery on my hands[carpel tunnel].

Now for more interesting stuff. lol I have quite a bit on Nathaniel West and Mary "Polly" Cahill. I have a list of 8 children with an unknown female. If, you can let me know what you are looking for I will be glad to see if I have anything. I have Joshua Sheridan and Elizabeth West with 10 children with birth years and state born, but that is all. Do you have marriages, birth dates and if any children, there names etc. I have Joshua and Elizabeth was m. 31 Aug. 1837 in Logan co. Ill. In looking further I see I have Joshua M. b. 1852 m. Elizabeth "Betsy" ----? Mother Elizabeth was living with them.

We are definitely talking about 2 different families. I have a printout of the West Family DNA Project. My group is 11 where you say your group is 18. Group 11 is on page 9 of my printout. Your William was b. either Va. or N.C. mine was b. either Md. or Pa.

Hello, try doing a West DNA search on the internet, you should be able to pull up the results. If I knew how to send that page to you, I would. Try to as it has a lot of West DNA results. It is very long and takes a few minutes to totally open the page. Hope this helps. William Nelson West born 1775 with a son John C. West has been proven to my line per a cousin doing family research. I read your query about the West line. Where did you find the middle name of William West 1775/79 as being Nelson? He was m. to Sarah Boyd. Do you know who William's parents are? I have Morris West, Sr. as father but no mother. I also have Morris,Sr. parents as Jonathan West b. 1715 Warwick, Bucks Co. Pa. and Ruth Pemberton b. 1719 Bucks co. Pa. I am looking for proof that they were Wm. parents.

What data are you looking for on William Nelson West. I have not been able to develop his line like I would like to. I am needing his children's names. I have Thomas b. 1800 Ohio m. Eliza Tipton. I have a family of 11 children for them and have been able to develop that family.

Cyrus Jordan West, born 1821, was married twice. His first marriage in 1839 was to Mary Wood. I'd like to know who her parents were. His second marriage in January 1852 was to Eliza Parrish, daughter of Joel Parrish and Olivia Chute. These were the parents of Edythe West born about 1861.

Edythe had a brother Adelbert. Any idea if he moved to MA? Another brother, Charles Dimock West died in MA in 1946.

They married in Baltimore,MD, moved to Ohio sometime after 1790. Lived first in Jefferson county,then in Harrison County where John died in 1844 and Charity died in 1849. I don't really know who Charity's father is.

However, I have not been able to determine Nathaniels parents. Can you share some info on this regards it sound like we might have the same Nathaniel West. I might have the same person in my wife's family. Nathaniel West b.1783 married May Cahill. Had Elizabeth West who married Joshua Sheridan in Ohio. Joshua died in Ohio and I have Betty moved to llinois where some of her children and other relatives have moved to Logan County. Joshua and Elizabeth were my wife's GGGgrandparents. Is there a connection to the Nathaniel west you Have?

I have been searching for Theodore Albert WEST and have hit a large brick wall. He was born 28 Aug 1864 in Texas. Married Mary E. BRANHAM 07 Jan 1889 in Texas. I can only find him in the Census for 1900, 1910 and 1920. In those he is married. I can not find anything on him as a child. His father was John Henry WEST. I am not sure of where he was from. No listing for his mother. He and Mary had 10 children, names as follows. Ruby, Rose Lee, Marcie (Bud), John Henry, Susie Malinda (my grandmother), Lela, Lewis, Jewel, Mary L. Elbert L. Earl Eldon, May, Theodore passed 11 July 1933 in Grandfield,Tillman, Oklahoma. I have spoken to a few of the cousins that I have been able to locate but none of them have any information on Theodore. I have a picture of three young ladies. It is approximately 4 x 6 and was taken in 1945. I can only assume that one or more of these girls were friends of my mothers and father, but I am not sure. They lived in Tyler, Texas. My father lived in Winnsboro, Texas before he and my mother got married. My mother was the daughter of Jesse and Ethel Patterson of Tyler and my father was the son of Barney Taylor Green and Desser Hinson Green from Winnsboro, Texas.

The notation written on the back is this:

Hazel, Bernice and Inez West - took Aug 1945, Hazel 24 years July 15, Bernice 22 years March 6 and Inez 16 years August 14.

IF this is your family and you would like to have this along with some other West pictures, please let me know. I inherited family videography from my mother, grandmother and great grandmother and have so many photos they took. I am getting on in age and would like to get these photos back to closer living family members for their enjoyment and so they can also pass these photos down through their family. Have a good day.

I have long been of the opinion that he was a son of Morris West (1752-1839) but the West DNA Project (FamilyTree DNA) shows another Morris West descendant who does not match closely with me. There is a closer match to another Nathaniel West (born 1750 Baltimore Co. MD). Morris' wife was unknown. My ancestor was David C. West son of Nathaniel (1783-1858).

West Matthews is buried at Red Hill Cementary in Paris, Lamar County Texas beside her husband Baxter Matthew who was born Feb 20, 1875 and d. March 2, 1944 . They had a daughter Florence Emma Matthew Daughtrey. Hope this might help in your research... Good Luck

I did the 67 Panel for WEST DNA website (number W-86). I wass there for about 3-4 years, found no connection with the WEST line. But many hits with the HIGHTOWER name.

DNA is good to track genetic issues. I posted an alert to my new genetic kin about Hemochromotosis (too much iron).

No regrets. I suggest folks to watch the PBS specials airing in Sept. 2009. You can catch up on the PBS website.

This Peter West who m. Prudence Niles was b. Dutchess Co. NY 1768, son of Francis and Eunice (Fones) West. See the MFIP series for George Soule, Pt. 5 Family #650 (printed 2008).

Peter's children are mentioned in Vivian Broberg's book "Always Westward" (1984) p. 42. and her "Addendum" p. 3.

If you have a male West descendant, it is possible to confirm this West lineage back to Francis and Susannah (Soule) West by a Y-DNA test. See Family Group 20 on Dennis West's website for Y-DNA test results.

I got into the census records: 1820 for Rome,Oneida Co NY
Of the 5 West entries I can identify 3 as descendants of Francis and Susannah (Soule) West. That leaves Jabez and Barnis, of whom only Jabez has a girl of the right age to be your Margaret b. ca 1804.
She is possibly of a 'German' family...the 1850 census of Muskego, Waukesha Co., WI indicates Abraham and Margaret WEst went to Wisc. ca 1846 and probably were in Lyme, Jefferson Co. My husband is descended from a Mary West from Gortinny, Co. Derry, who married a Hugh McCollum on 24/3/1818 (Church of Ireland) Faughanvale Parish, Co. Derry. Is this the same Mary West?

Thanks for the information. I don't think this would be the correct family as my Thomas West was born around 1799 in Vermont, moved to Big Flats (Elmira area), NY, and then was in Middlebury, Wyoming County, NY by the 1820 census.

There is no family history of any moves to Galway, NY. It could be possible that they lived there but the West family in Galway would have to have something mentioning Thomas.

I don't think the next generation of George Soule's family will help as I went to the courthouse in Tioga Co, NY, (where the Chemung Co. records from 1800-1820 would be housed) looking for any records of Jonathan and Thomas West's time there. I was told the court records from that period were burned in a fire. Without a land record, I don't know if I will ever solve the mystery unless someone has some other type of record I don't have because the Mayflower Society will not accept the information I have.
