Oh boy this is news to me my Aunt Cleo had boys! I thought she only had the girls, as they were all I ever seen growing up. It's great to know I have more cousins that I ever knew. I take it you are older than me, as I wasn't born till 1958.

Yes my Grandma Goldie and Delbert lived on Conejo till he remarried, then divorced that woman (around 1990) then he passed on here about 6 yrs ago. There is not much family members left and those who are still living are in poor health .

My wife has tried for years to locate and find out information on my Great Grandmother Cora Welcher. I'd love to find out where she is buried and take her some flowers.

We don't know for sure, it's just hearsay on where is she is buried, I have no clue who her parents were or siblings were.

I live in Modesto, do you? If so I'd like to come by and talk family or you are welcome to come to my home in Modesto. I work weekdays and off on the weekends.
I would give you my phone number but I don't want everyone on the internet knowing too.

I sure am happy you responding to our posts looking for Cora. I wonder if she was a sweet as my Grandma Goldie was.
Grandma Goldie treated me good as a little boy.
Thank you again for writing to me,
David

I Should have mentioned my name, I am Conley Shepherd, Cleo Shepherd is my mother, Laney and Cora Kindle were my grandparents--I am the oldest of 9 children Then came 5 girls Anita, Alene,Charlotte, Janie, Gail then 3 boys,Paul Larry And Ronald. Aunt Goldies children were my cousins D.W., June, Leon, Patsy and Brenda. Way back in the late 40's I used to spend a couple of weeks a summer at Goldies when they lived on Conejo st. in Modesto. You mentioned Leon had talked to My Grandfathers brother and he was referred to as "uncle" that would be his brother Al Kindle

yeah "Sis" Flora Work couldn't have any kids due to multiple surgeries on her stomach. She passed away from bleeding ulcers.

Dave just got home and he said he knows you, the Shepards and Blacks.
Aunt Cleo has Elaine, Charlotte and Anita. Aunt Cleo lives not far from us and on her one birthday at the park we made her a family album with every photo and information I have worked on for years on the Kindle family.Right before Aunt Ginger (Nadine) passed away.

I recently had talked to Tiffany online she lives lives in AZ now. And is intrested in the family history too.

Dave says "hello cousin, whoever you are" LOL
This is where we have been getting confused.
My husband David Walters knew about his Aunt COra, Ginger (Nadine), Mildred, Cotton (Matthew), etc.
But the name Cora being his Great Grandmother who "went died in Arkansas" is where we are stumped.

Supposedly that is when the Work(s)family moved here to Modesto, Robert Work(s) her husband Delbert's father Robert died.
We found him buried in a paupers grave, no headstone. THe cemetery located him for us in their printed book.

We got more confused on a Flora Works buried next to Othel Works, as Dave's Mother's name was Flora.
We just found out how she died last week from Dave's Aunt Brenda.

I try to research as much as I can for Dave, but when you come acorss the same names of women, but they are different people. LOL talk about being stuck!

Thank you so much for your help in filling in some gaps
Kathy Walters
Modesto, CA

I'm a descendant of a Nathaniel Welcher that we know next to nothing about. He had a son, William Giles, who was my gggrandfather, and fought in the Civil War. All we know is that he was William's father and from around the New York/New Jersey area (if I remember right). Let me know if this lines up anywhere with yours, as that's where my research has gotten stuck. Thanks.

At least one daughter, Myrtle, born about 1914. Possibly a second daughter, Chloe, born 1911, died 1919.

B Davis, Yes, this is the Milo I'm looking into. Your Isaac was brother to my 3rd grt grandmother, Fannie (whom he named one of his daughters after). I am trying to find out if Milo is another sibling of theirs. Alot of things point to it, but I still cannot find any proof. I know of one other sibling for sure, Phoebe Bentley in Decatur. I have some photos of some of them, I'd be interested to know if you have any. I'm excited to find a descendent of Isaac's! I would like to talk to you more about this family. My e-mail is sierra3063@yahoo.com if you are willing to contact me, I would love to "share and tell". Wendy

Wendy, I show a Milo Welcher, 30, and his two sons, Joseph 10, and Augustus 7,on the 1860 US Census for Decatur, Van Buren Co., MI, living with my ancestor, Isaac Welcher, 35 and his wife Sarah. On the 1880 US Census, I found Joseph Welcher, 29 in Decatur with his wife Ida and twin sons, Hartley, 6 and Harley, 6 and daughter Bessie, 3. They are living next door to Milo & wife Ellen. I found Hartly & Buna Welcher on the 1930 US Census living in Scio, Washtenaw Co, MI and his twin, Harley & Ethel Welcher living in Decatur, MI. Does this make a connection for you?

My home page seems to be working okay, it's at:

http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/d/e/r/Brian-D-Deroo/ind...

No, I've never heard of a Menard Welcher, or of any Welchers from Arkansas. They might still be related to my branch, however, if you find that Menard's ancestors came from New York state or New Jersey. My ancestors seem to have moved from New Jersey to western New York state and moved from there to Michigan, Illinois, Iowa and other places.

Thanks for your reply to my message and please feel free to e-mail me if you have any more questions or information.

Yes, those Welchers from Syracuse are most probably related to my branch. Check the NY Census records from 1800 onwards and you'll uncover much more info.

Phobe Welcher lived in the early 1800's and was from New York. I think she married a Thomas because one of my family members says that my ggrgrandfather was married to Phoebe Thomas. When I got a copy of my grgrandfather's death certificate it showed that Phoebe's maiden name was Welcher. She was married to George Bentley(his second marriage too) and they had one son Ernest. I am trying to join the D.A.R. and must prove my line but I am also just curious. I would love to have any info that you might have. Thanks! Kathy

WELCHER of Lansing, Michigan

Interested in information on James and his family, expecially his daughters. Info that I have is as follows:

1910/5/6: James L and Emma E. Welcher, my great uncle and aunt are living according to the Census at 1203 Main Street in Lansing at age 39 and 41 respectively. They had been married for 21 years. With them are 3 daughters: Leona M., Ruth A., and Vinnie A., ages 18, 10 and 7, respectively. All were born in Michigan. James' parents were from Ohio. Emma's father, William Hills, was from England while her mother was born in Michigan. James was occupied as a carpenter building homes.

1920/7/7: living in Lansing as Mrs. Welch per her father's obit.

1926: In a McKinley Reynolds Company's Lansing City Directory, James L and Emma E. lived at 1203 W. Main. No employment is listed even though their age would have been only late 50s.

1930/4/24: Emma, age 59, and her husband James, age 61, are living in the 6th Ward of Lansing, MI. He is a carpenter, perhaps a contractor. Both were born in Michigan. They own their home, not a farm, valued at $3800 but do not have a radio. She was 19 at the time of her first marriage: he was 17.

1956/12: at another person's funeral in Lansing, there was a flower card signed from Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence Hall, Mrs. Leona Hall and Mrs. Emma Welcher. Two Halls? Daughters of Emma?

1961: James and Emma are buried in a family plot at Mt Hope Cemetary in Lansing w/ Father, William Hills, and brother, Cary Hills.

Welcher Family - Albert and Fannie , Phoebe

I am looking for any info. on my Welcher ancestors. They were from New York and at some point the families, were rumored to be from
Wales. Albert and Fannie Welcher were my 3rd great grandparents. They may have been cousins of some sort, so I believe Fannie may have had Welcher as a maiden name also. (Not sure). Albert was born c.1810, and I think died sometime during the 1870's. They lived in Southwest Mi. I have found census references to Texas Township, Kalamazoo Co. for both of them in 1870 and for Fannie in Decatur in 1880. Their daughter, Phoebe was my great, great grandmother. Beyond that, I don't have very much info. Many of my ancestors were from Cass , Van Buren , Berrien Counties. If anyone has any insight into any of this, I would be very appreciative.
Try the following information supposedly compiled by Rev. Dr. Wm. J. Hinke of the Historical Society of the Evangelical and Reformed Church at Franklin and Marshall College

Gerhard Etter b. 17 Jan 1718, Oeber Rieth, Bern, Canton, Switzerland
m. Catharina Banga b. 26 Oct 1717

They came to America before 1750
and settled in/near Palmyra, PA and a Moravian Colony in what is now Lebanon Co. PA. This colony was named Quetopehilla.

Their Children were

Elizabeth b. 1744
Peter b 1745
Anna Maria b. 1746
John b. 1748
Daniel b. 1750
Samuel b. 2 Jan 1759 d. 14 Jan 1840

This work continues

"Samuel and his son, Samuel were both United Brethren ministers. Samuel stayed in Pennsylvania but the other children moved to Wythe County, Va."

I am the 4th great grandson of the above Daniel Etter. The Etter Family history that I have doesn't have anything on this branch. The above Daniel Etter had a son Samuel b. 1789 with no other detail in my information. Daniel Etter b. 1750 moved to Wythe Co. VA. His son Daniel, my 3rd great grandather was born in Wythe Co. in 1791, not sure about his brother Samuel.

My guess based on above, that your ancestor would be Samuel, son of Gerhard that stayed in PA.

Good luck!

I am looking for my great grandfather,James Welcher. He was married to Sarah Erbey in Oklahoma aroundthe 1860's. They had at least one son, my grandfather John "Riley" Welcher, born;12 Aug.,1888. I noticed in Jimmies Obituary the name "Ryley". So sorry to hear of your loss.May he be with God and the rest of his departed family.James Welcher welchejj@earthlink.net
