A distressing accident occurred in this place about seven o'clock last Saturday evening, by which Beckie, a three-year-old daughter of Mrs. Fred Wegley, was fatally burned. The children were playing and had gathered around the table, when in some way the lamp was upset and the burning oil spilt on the child, who ran out in the yard, all in flames. The screams of the children brought Mrs. Wegley and others to the rescue but the child was so seriously burned that, although everything possible was done for her, she died at about two o'clock on Sabbath morning. Her family and friends have the heartfelt sympathy of everyone. This is the third death in the family within six months.

A sad accident, which terminated fatally (f)or a bright little girl, occurred at the residence of Mrs. Fred Wegley, in this place, on Saturday evening last. Shortly after dark the two young children were in the kitchen popping corn when by some means the lamp was knocked from the table. The oil splashed over one of the children, a little girl aged about four years, and in an instant she was a sheet of flames. She at once ran to the door and out into the yard, and after running about a short time, with flames high above her head, she fell to the ground with her face in the grass. When assistance reached her it was found that nearly all her clothes were burned off and her body had suffered severely. Her face was burned almost to a crisp and was scorched black. She had evidently inhaled considerable flame and it was soon seen that she could not recover. She lingered in great agony till about two o'clock in the morning, when death came to her relief. She was an interesting little child and her step-mother was much attached to her.
It is but a few months since Mr. Wegley, the father of the child, was so injured by a machine in his mill as to cause his death in a few days.
