Altho I have a lot of info on the Weatherford Family, and over the years have spent several hours trying to determine the parents of Manchester Weatherford, I too (like other researchers) have never found his parents. However, I really don't think it was Archibald. He was too old.. Since Manchester wasnot listed on the 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880 census', his parents wouldnot be listed either. With his not being on any census it is almost impossible to trace his whereabouts. Here are the "facts" I have found on him, primarily on the 1900 census of Bell Co., Texas.

He was born in Ala. (where?) in 1845 and apparently died in Bell Co. during the 1920's. He said both his parents were born in N.C. (I estimate his father was born circa 1810-1822 and his mother circa 1815-1825.) He married Mary E. (Mollie) Wooten 12/24/1865 in Lawrence Co., Tn. Thjeir children were born several years later: Joseph M. (1881), Frank (1883), Clarence (1885), and Georgia (1887). They were all born in Tn. (where?). Maybe in Lawrence Co. That was quite a gap between the marriage date and the children's birth dates. Usually the first child is born within 2 years of the parents marriage.

On the 1840 census (looking for Manchesters parents or grandparents), it seems all Weatherford's in N.C. were in Caswell Co. Maybe his father or grandfather was Thomas, James, William, or Hiram. Hiram was born 1794 and the others maybe were born about the same time.

Regarding Mary e. Wooten's parents, they were J.B. and Rhoda Wooten. J.B. was born 1813 and Rhoda 1823, both in Tn. They married circa 1844-45 (where ?) and their children were : Mary E. (1846), Martha (1848), Xantha R. (1850), Sarah J. (1852), Lucinda (1855), and Frances R. (1859 -a girl). On the 1850 census they lived in Lauderdale Co., Ala, and the 1860 census they were in Lawrence Co., Tn.

I guess this is about all I know. Hopefully it will you some food for thought. Bob Eddings - no relation.
