Francis was my father. He was born in Alexandria VA and died in Columbus GA Oct 1950. He married Velma Miller from Columbus GA. Twin sisters, Velma and Zelma Miller married brothers, Francis (also known as Red) Kurly Weadon. After the marriage, they worked in the carnival -- but I don't know exactly where. I am assuming in Georgia. If anyone has anymore info, please let me know. I, too, am just starting out trying to find out more about my father's side of the family. I was only 4 when he died. Was wondering if I have some cousins still alive in VA??

Hello Mary,
You need to go to Ancestry.com and go to "favorite databases" and click on the white pages and you can check each state or the whole country. It is pretty self explanatory. I have checked and there is only 113 Weadon's in the whole country.
I am one of the few in California. Transplant from Kansas City, Missouri. Please let me know about any additional info you can get. My mother is also trying to gather information and as soon as I get it I will post it for you.
Good luck, Paul

Paul,

Thanks for your reply. I got an e-mail msg from someone called Dallyn@aol.com This person told me that from the Alexandria Gazette Obituary Index, there were 10 Weadons -- Don't know if you have these or not:
CAROLIN d. 4/13/1910
F. M. d. 11/13/1886
FANNY d. 2/18/1875*
CAPT JOHN d. 7/15/1876
MARTHA C d. 9/7/1914
MARTIN d. 9/26/1897
MARY CATHERINE d. 8/1/1877*
PHILIP HENRY d. 6/1/1899
SARAH J d. 10/30/1876*
WALKER G d. 10/30/1905

Those with * are the only ones where any info other than a death date might be given. The Gezette ran a list of deaths at the end of year, which is where the others were listed.

MARRIAGE INDEX:
1893 - 1905

MAMIE WEADON m. EARNEST CRUMP 3/30/1898
WILLIAM F WEADON m. MARY F MERO 9/29/1897

Hope this helps u. Keep me posted.

Hello Mary and Paul:
I am a Weadon. So seldom do I find any genealogy on this name. I have and can give you quite a bit of info on Weadons in N.C. that came from Va., as well as my family who were in D.C. (my dad came from N.C.) and his relatives that lived in Alexandria, Virginia, and still do.

Hope,

Would be interested in the Weadons in Alexandria VA. All I know is that my father, Francis Alvin Weadon, was from Alexandria VA.
I was named after my grandmothers. Alice Pullman would be my fraternal grandmother. Any help would be appreciated.

Mary:
I have a LOT of paper work on the "Weadons" but do not come across a Francis Alvin Weadon. I would be happy, however, to mail you what I have for you to review. There is a contact in my papers that you may wish to make as he is not (so far as we could tell) related to "my" Weadon's, but could be to you. If you will email me (do not reply on this meassage board) your address, I will be happy to mail all that I have to you. As I said, there are other contacts that you may make from the info that I have, that may lead you to the information you are seeking. I hope so. Would also like to know more about your Weadon's as the info you game me was not much and perhaps I could make a connection if you provided more info. Look forward to your email.

My last name was Weadon - Arlington, Virginia, Falls Church, Springfield and
in Dunn Loring. Family mostly from the DC area. Fathers parents were from Dunn Loring - Roger Thomas Weadon Junior and his parents were Roger Thomas Weadon and Bertha Pearl Minnick. Interested in any information on parents of Roger Thomas Weadon (not junior). May have been born in Washington D.C. - not sure. One aunt still living in Maryland. Family goes back to before the civil war in this area. I have traced back as far as the revolutionary war in Massachussetts but not sure of actual lineage. Have heard that familly was related to William Jennings Bryan and Jesse James (interesting). If you have any information that could tie in - please contact the message board or my e-mail.

Thanks

Terri: I am not sure if I responded to your posting about the Weadons or not. You were looking for a Donald Weadon. There was/is a Donald Alfred Weadon, Jr. in Washington, D. C. who is a lawyer. He is a senior partner at Dickstein, Shapiro Morin .I spoke to him "ages" ago when I started my search. We could not find a link. He was a very nice man. I recently saw a article about him posted in the Houston Cronical Archives - The Houston Cronicle paper on Mon 2/8/93 in the business section, page 1, Edition: 2 Star. The headline was "U.S. firms hope to re-invade Vietnam/Trade team anticipatesembargo's end", by Jeanne B. Pinder, New York Times. I copied this and would be glad to xerox it and mail it to you if you like. I don't think you can retrieve it unless you are signed onto the Houston Chronicle Archives. Email me back if interested.
