Surnames: Wead
I am the daughter fathered by a man named Daniel Wead. His true were abouts are not certain other than he has lived in the Chicago area. He still remains here in Illinois, but unknown! He also has another daughter by the name of Theresa. I don't honestly know if he had any other siblings or who his father was. I do have to say that his mother, (my grandmother) did die roughly 20 years ago and her name was also Theresa Wead. This side of the family is a blank to me! I am not even sure of the nationality! I was told, Italian and Irish...well I wonder. And I will continue until I learn my were abouts on the Wead family.Any info please contact me.

Hello April, My family also pronounces our Wead with a long 'a'. My father was William Scott Wead, Jr. His grandfather was Paul Wead whose father was James Wead. I know too little about the Wead side and would love to share notes. Thanks, Elain Wead Austin

hi. very surprised to see your email. i posted that almost a year ago. i got to who i thought was my great great grandpa an couldn't find anything further. it looked like he died the day the Titanic sank. although I found two different alexander wead. i did find the graves where alot of them are. he was near who i know is my great grandpa edward.we are from the springfield/enon area. my father is phil, his father, raymond, died in about 1982 and is buried in springfield. his father edward is buried in xenia as is i believe is his father alexander. i found both of those this summer. edward's stone is broke and alexander's was hard to read due to age. i couldn't be for certain he was the correct alexander though. although i am sure they are related. i know anyone the pronounces it the same is related. i was trying to go back to see where the spelling went wrong. but like i said i ran into a block. my parents found edwards grave years ago so we knew about where he was. my mom is from the xenia area. which is funny that my dad also has ties to xenia. when i went this past summer i actually was shown by the caretakers the books from way back when. in the "family plot" it showed two different last names one was Wade and another name i can't remember. almost like there were name changes. that was puzzling to me. it was terribly hot that day and took me awhile to find. alot of the area was in bad condition. the grass was not taken care of. i finally had them take me to the area. i believe it was in section I.
where are you from? i am 35 years old. my father just turned 64. i know edward died from a heart attack at (i believe) 32 years old. i know it was a very young age.
look forward to hearing back from you.

Dear April, I don't understand why I did not recieve your reply via ancestry---I found your response when doing a google search. My family pronounces the name WADE. It is my understanding that we are Scottish/Irish and the name was Wood. When we came to America, the brogue was so thick that it was understood as wade. I explain to others that it is Wead rhymes with head and dead which is closer that weed--lol. I would love to compare notes.
