Hi Marilyn,
I can't help you with information specifically about your father, but we may be related. My paternal great grandfather was Peter Toy, born in Scotland and married to Jennie Burrell, also Scottish. They had several children, including a daughter Mary, (my grandfather's sister) born around 1874 in Brooklyn. The 1900 census shows Peter widowed at age 48, living in Brooklyn with daughter Mary "Wchwer" (who is listed as head of household), then 26 years old and also widowed. Also living there are Mary's three brothers Charles, Edward and Norman (my grandfather, aka Peter Norman) and her own son Frank Wchwer, age 3. I hope that helps.
