Hi,

They are cousins off my mother's side of the family. My mother was Lily Rubenstein and her mother was Fanny (Rabinovitch) Rubenstein. Bubbie came to the US from Russia under the name of Sofen ( I think). Anyway, When Bubbie died these were the names that attended her burial. Sadly, I wasn't SMART enough to get family information when my parents were alive and I have lived in Oregon for about 38 years. Bubbie and my Uncle Joe had a Pharmacy on 5th and Whitmore in LA and an apartment on Hartford, which was just around the corner.

I am looking for information on this family, named Waxman here, probably a translation of their original name, Donag.

The parents were Nathan and Ida.

Esther (probably born 1895) and Isaac Shillit were from a section of Russia that is now in Poland. They were in Canada before 1914 and came to the U.S. about 1915. Two sons and died in Florida in 1974 and 1980 respectively.

Sadie (probably b 1892 and d. 1972) married and had two sons, Stanley and David. Last name possibly Sirota.

Solomon (1904-1980) married Bella Gurewitz (known always as Betty) and they had one son Arthur, a musician who died in 1986.

Several other siblings perished in the holocaust. Beryl (or Beril) and Nathan were nephews who survived the concentration camps and came to the U.S. after the war. Both died of the late onset diabettis that appears common in the family. Not sure that their name was Waxman.

Any contacts or information greatly appreciated.

Bob
