BROOKINGS - Alvina Watts, 86, died of complications due to heart disease on Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at Brookview Manor.

Alvina Paulsen was born on Sept. 30, 1913 in Grey Township, Pipestone, Minn. She spent the greater part of her life near Pipestone. She graduated from Pipestone High School in 1932. She married Millard Watts on Nov. 7, 1934, in Sioux Falls.

They farmed near Pipestone until 1960. In 1964, they moved to Brookings. She worked as an Avon lady for 34 years. She lived in the Yorkshire Apartments for nine years. Her husband died July 22, 1984, in Brookings.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church.

Survivors include three sons: Gary of White, Lyle of Brookings and Bruce of Boulder, Colo five grandchildren three great-grandchildren one great-great-grandchild four sisters: Amanda Burmeister of Luverne, Minn., Clara Russell of New Richland, Minn., Rose Groth of Pipestone, Arlene Schwartz of Brookings and a brother, Ted Paulsen of Pipestone.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Brookings, with burial at 2 p.m. in New Woodlawn Cemetery of Pipestone, Minn.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Rude's Funeral Home in Brookings.
