Madge Amelia Raulerson Waters, 91, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2003, at the Satilla Regional Medical Center. A native and life-long resident of Pierce County, she was a retired school teacher having worked in the Pierce County School System for over thirty years. She was a member of the Blackshear First United Methodist Church and was also a member of the Susannah Wesley Sunday School Class. She had worked as a pink lady with the former Pierce County Hospital and will be remembered for her love of growing roses. She was a daughter of the late O. W. and Della Middleton Raulerson and was also preceded in death by her husband, James Woodrow Waters, who passed away in 1965. Survivors are three daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Mike Anderson, Blackshear, Matilda and William Dukes, Quitman and Nell and Billie Clanton, Jesup; a son and daughter-in-law, Wendell and Norma Waters, Blackshear; three sisters, Merle Anderson and Iris (Danny) Brooks, all of Patterson and Irma and Eldred Edgy, Blythe Island; two sisters-in-law, Jewell Futch, Alma and Geneva Lamb, Rincon; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 28, from the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Freddie Wheeler and the Rev. Dr. Terry Deloach officiating Interment followed in the Blackshear Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Box 127, Blackshear, GA 31516. Pearson-Treadwell Funeral Home of Blackshear was in charge of arrangements.
