Hello
I have just started my search into the Warfel side of my family. Henry was my great-great grandfather. John Daughtery Warfel, my great grandfather and U.S. Grant Warfel my grandfather. He had one child a daughter Esther Mae Warfel-Whitney who was my mother. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.

Samuel Warfel of Safe Harbor, PA

There are two Warfels in my tree: Samuel Warfel (B:~1848 near Safe Harbor, Conestoga Township, Lancaster Co., PA) and his daughter Emma (B:~1867). Samuel married Catherine Simmers (B:~1850 in Safe Harbor; daughter of Patrick Simmers [B:~1813 in Maryland, later living in Safe Harbor] and Mary Simmers [1811-1888 in Safe Harbor and later Columbia Borough, Lancaster Co.]). Samuel and Catherine had two daughters, Emma and Mary Warfel (B:~1871) and two sons, Abraham (B:~1869) and Adam Warfel(B:~1873).

Emma Warfel married George Poff (B:~1863 near Delta, York Co., PA). They had a son named Harry (1886-1961) and lived in Columbia. George and Emma divorced probably between 1889 and 1893. George remarried about 1893 to Henrietta, who had a daughter named Ida Reed. I do not know what happened to Emma.

Please let me know if you have any connections or information on this line. Thanks!

Steve

Warfel Family History Book - Evans Information

Recently a cousin sent me information she had found several years ago in what I think is the Warfel Family History book. Can anyone with the book tell me more about this connection? I am also interested in where the author found the information and is it reliable. This could help resolve an ancestor conflect in our family. Thank you so very much for you assistance.

Pennsylvania Historical Society Library, Philadelphia, PA.

This history found just inside the Library door (2nd floor), on the right as you enter—a big, thick book, Warfuel(Warfel?) Family History. "

I Evan Evans (7th son) and Mary MacDonald from Cardiff, Wales, ca 1745
II Evan Evans (7th son) (Evan 1) and Mary Carson settled near Staunton, VA.
III Evan Evans (7th son) (Evan 1 , Evan 2), born 1777, married
Martha McCray and moved to Flemingsburg, KY

IV James Brown Evans (Evan 1, Evan 2, Evan 3) born 1811, married Susannah Knapp

V William Dupuy Evans (Evan 1, Evan 2, Evan 3, James 4), b 27 May 1840, died 25 Feb 1927
Married Amanda Reeves 1865. Children born 1866 to 1881: Jesse H, Irene Susan, Frederick Huston, Emma Eleanor

VI Frederick Huston Evans (Evan 1, Evan 2, Evan 3, James 4, William 5) b 8 March 1881
Married Mary Rojier Warfuel(Warfel) 2 Sept 1908.
Have one child Mary Rojier Evans, born 1909, Living in Peoria, Illinois."

I will double check the page I am thinking about.

The reference to Frederick Huston Evans b 8 March 1881marrying Mary Rojier Warfuel(Warfel) 2 Sept 1908 should be true.
I have a copy of the book WARFEL & ALLIED FAMILIES by Stanley and Jane Warfel. They spent at least 25 or 30 years gathering information on the Warfel Family beginning with George Warfel and his brother Melchior Warfel who came to America in 1932. There are 7 listings for Evans in the index but none of them sound like your people.
Hi,
I am surveying all of the 1790 PA Census, every county, every twp. - looking for Warfel (all sp.var.), and Weston families.
Found a JARRAT WARFIELD, living Unk. Twp., Huntingdon Co.PA. Family given as 1 male over 16 and older; 2 males under 16, and 6 females.
Does anyone know who Jarrat's parents were? I desc. from Hans Melchior Werfel, and as far as I can see, there is no Jarrat there, although the fam. WAS in Huntingdon Co.
Could Jarrat be the German equivalent of an Anglicized name? Could Jarrat be a desc. of George Warfel, who may be another son of our Johannes Werfer?
Give a shout if you can help clear up the mysterious Jarrat.
Thanks, Deborah Sweet
