Re: James Wilson Wallace, WA

Jesse Felix Wallace was born 1866 in Ashe Co. NC, also a son of Reuben Wallace and Rebecca Testerman. Evidently, he first married Maggie Eller (the date I have seen reported is June 1902). I can't find any info on who her family was, or when she died (it must have been between 1900 and 1910). They had a son, Paul Dewey Wallace, born Jan. 5, 1900 or 1901. In the 1910 U.S. Census, they have moved to Konnarock, VA. Jesse is a widower, Paul is 10 years old, and Lydia V. Pugh (Sexton), a widow also originally from Piney Creek NC, and her four children are boarders (Lydia is the housekeeper). By the 1920 Census, Jesse and Lydia have married. Looking for info on Maggie Eller, or whomever Paul's birth mother was (even his birth record only lists his father). Thanks, any info will be much appreciated!

I'm looking for a John Wallace, my great great grandfather, who was born Northern Ireland around 1790. His son, Hugh Henry, was born around 1830 and migrated to Australia in 1860. He married Mary Tully in Adelaide in 1865. I don't know the name of John's wife. Does anyone have any information on this family?

I saw this a while ago and I am not related. It was a very interesting example of genealogy search, finally finding his family (father) in a small town that had changed its name. I do believe he had brothers who may have had sons, The video that was on TV was relating why the movie Braveheart was made.

Re: Wallaces in york county SC

I believe you are talking about John Shelby Wallace. He was the son of Alexander McCuin Wallace of Lauderdale County AL. John Shelby's sister was my great grandmother, Sarah A. Wallace. Alexander McCuin was the son of the Thomas Wallace spoken of in this thread as being originally from York County SC. Over ten year ago a group of Thomas' descendants, including some from John Shelby, formed a group to research this family. In spite of extensive research, we still have not learned what the relationship was between our Thomas and the John Wallace who bought land from Robert Wallace in York County. We do, however, have a great deal of information about the descendants of both Thomas and John, who had to have been related somehow because they continued to be very close even after their move to Lauderdale County AL. I would love to respond if you or any other readers have questions or better yet answers.

Glenda

Not to change lineage lines or anything, but I do have a 3rd or 4th great grandmother, Agnes Wallace (1810-1890), that was born in England in 1810 and married Robert Menerey around 1830 in Dublin, then the family, including Robert's 6 children from a previous marriage and one son Agnes and Robert had together, all moved to Toronto (then called Little York) and then from there some or most of the family moved to Brockway/Yale, Michigan area, USA. The children of Robert Menerey and Mary Burke are as follows: James, John, William, and unfortunately I do not know the the names of the 3 daughters. The names of the Wallace/ Menerey children are: Robert, Isaac, Jacob, Martin, Joseph, George (my gggrandfather), and Sarah. All I know of Agnes Wallace's parentage is that her father was in the British Royal Army.

Five years late on this reply. Hope you are still monitoring this thread.

Yes, there were other siblings. This one was a black sheep. Paul John Wallace was born to John W. and Cornelia Wallace in Bennettsville in about 1872. He married into my wife's Hethington family in Charleston and abandoned his three young children when his wife died in Charleston in 1910. I have tracked him through the census to the Central Islip, Long Island State Mental Hospital in 1920..he was an attendant. In 1930 he was an inmate in the Tombs Prison in NYC. If you care for details about his children, who were raised by the surviving Hethington sisters, I will be happy to provide same.

David Rawlings

I may be also realted to William Wallace and Elizabeth Bruce through their son Matthew. Matthew Wallas was born abt 1684 and may have married March 18, 1706 Heddon on the Wall, Northumberland, England to Mary Mrs Simpson. Trying to prove if this Matthew is the one from Scotland as I can't find one born abt 1684 England anywhere. Matthew and Mary had probably a son named Matthew Wallis born abt 1707 and married June 20, 1727 Allenton (Alwinton), Northumberland, England to Ann Robson. Trying to find the connection since my mother-in-law told me we were related to Braveheart relatives

In her article on the genealogy of Lew Wallace in the fall 1989 edition of "Wallace Wallis Wallice Connections" (p 19-21) Marjorie Priser suggests that there are 3 men who have been put forward as being the father of Andrew Wallace (the father of David, the father of Lew). These are:

(1) Michael Wallace who has been proven to be incorrect.

(2) Samuel Wallace, the brother of Michael, but no one has been able to show he ever married.

(3) David Wallace who left a will (Lack Twp, Cumberland Co, PA, probated 15 Jan 1783) naming Andrew Wallace as his youngest son.

Dr. Neander M. Woods (who chose Michael as the great-grandfather in "The Woods-McFee Memorial" thereby obtaining a relationship to the Woods family) said that "(we) know that Andrew Wallace, of Carlisle, was the youngest child of his father."

Does anyone know what evidence exists to support the naming of Samuel as the great-grandfather of Lew Wallace?

My grandfather Frank L. Wallace was born 8/13/1870 in Ohio & it is a family "story" that his family came from Ireland. His father was Charles Wallace who died before Frank was age 5 when his mother Sarah moved to Mich & remarried Fred McFall.

I have not been able to find much on Charles Wallace from Ohio. If you have anything to share it would be greatly appreciated!

Robert Wallace

Going out on a huge limb here....But I searching for a Wallace that "may" have married Elizabeth Josephine Funderburk around 1890-1894 maybe in TN. or Ar. I find Elizabeth (Josie)Wallace listed in the 1900 census as a lodger (widowed) in Woodruff Co. Ar. with 2 children: Josephine (Nona)Wallace age 5 and "Junnie"Wallace age 2. Josephine is "Nona Josephine" my grandmother..."Junnie" is Robert...who I was told died at an early age.(what that means..who knows).
So my problem is... was their fathers name "Robert" because his son was called "Junnie" in the 1900 and Robert in the 1910. I find my grandmother and her brother listed in the 1910 in Ar. with their mother *remarried* listed as Nona Wallace, and Robert Wallace, and their mother "Lizzie Ferguson" (now married to Alfred Ferguson)
Has anyone come across any of these folks in their Wallace search??
Thanks in advance,
Diann Waddell (nee: Key)

Patrick Wallace

Can anybody assist me in finding out about Patrick Wallace & his family. He is my husbands Gt Grandfather & we believe he was born in 1819 in Ireland. He married a Mary Flaherty who also came from Ireland. He had at least 6 children (but I think there would have been a lot more) - Mary Agnes, Delia, Kathleen, Peter, Patrick ( born 1891) & Martin (my husband's grandad)born 1892.
Mary Agnes married Patrick? Slavin possibly in the US. Patrick emigrated to Boston in 1908 & married a Mary Curran. He died in 1917 in Boston.
Martin married Anna Marie Simmon and spent some years in USA/Canada but returned to the UK to live & die in Scotland

Scottish Clergy

When looking for Scottish Clergy try this link www.archives.org/details. When you get there search fasiecclesiaescoticanae. There are nine volumes all scanned and online for you to check. They are recorded by parish. However, some of the clergy were transferred between parishes so there may be different information in different volumes.

Hi ... Are you still working on the Robert Wallace and Violet Burnett line? They are my 5th Great Grandparents - from Robert Wallace to Arthur Wallace to Elizabeth Wallace who married James Lynn and down to me. I'm not finding much about Robert Wallace other than he arrived here in 1776 and died 14 years later in 1790. That's about it. Have you uncovered more? Would appreciate an e-mail if you have.
