Jane Wallace, widow, died in 1736 in Cecil, Co MD. By will she left land she had purchased in 1727 (also as widow) to her son in law George Welch/sh and her daughter Hannah. She also left money to her other daughter Mary Alexander (wife of Moses Alexander).
She is clearly connected to the Wallace & Alexander families from the 1683 purchase of the “New Munster tract” in Cecil Co., MD as she appears as one of the petitioners in the 1722, “New Munster petition” within the Calvert papers, as Jane Wallace, widow with the Wallace and Alexander families who were struggling to settle disputes to their land claims from 1683.
Other Wallace’s listed in the New Munster petition are Matthew Wallace, Matthew Wallace Jr. David Wallace & John Wallace. Also named are several Alexanders.
I have been unable to connect Jane the widow of an unnamed Wallace to any of the other Wallace’s associated with the 1683 New Munster tract of land. Based on estimates of her daughter’s birth dates of about 1700-1715, Jane was possibly born about 1680, married about 1700 and widowed by 1722.
If any of the Wallace researchers with knowledge of the Wallace line in SOMERSET & CECIL county Maryland have clues or suggestions, I would appreciate hearing from them.
