I am looking for information on James B. Walker's, Mary Ellen Pratter's ancestors. He was born in Tennessee and is buried at Dodd Cemetery in Soddy-Daisy, Hamilton County, Tennessee. Census records indicate his father was born in either Tennessee or Virginia and his mother was born in Tennessee. Census records indicate Mary Ellen and her parents were born in Tennessee.
This is what I have been able to confidently determine with some dates an "about" date from census records:
James had two wives: Mary Ellen Pratter and Mary Amy (Doker) Bertram. His children with Mary Ellen include John (1888-1976), Anna E. (1890-), Thomas Floyd (1892-1959), George W. (1895-1980), Mollie M. (1897-) and Bertha P. (1900-). His children with Mary Amy include Arnold L. (1913-1970), Gordon (1916-1985), James (1920-) and Carroll (1924-). Mary Amy also had a daughter from a previous marriage: Elizabeth Maire Bertram - better known as "Lizzie" (1900-1934).
I was able to locate Mary Ellen's maiden name from my grandfather's (Thomas Floyd Walker) death certificate. I was able to locate Mary Amy's maiden name from Lizzie's death certificate. Lizzie's father is Hoyle Bertram. Lizzie married George W. listed above and they had several children together. George later married Martha J. as indicated on their headstone.
I have been able to find information about James' descendents. I have received hints about possible ancestors but can't say I am confident about the hints as I have no information about his parents or siblings. I have also not been able to find any information on the death of James, Mary Ellen or Mary Amy.
The ancestry trees I have looked at with James B., Mary Ellen and Mary Amy have a lot of conflicting information and rarely site sources of facts. I don't know were to go from here.
If any of these names are familiar to you, I would appreciate your sharing information with me.
Thank you!
