I came across this (unindexed) record in the Henrico County order book from 1710 and just wanted to post it in case it may help someone. It mentions Thomas East, Jr., going to court to try to have his illegitimate son indentured to him.
This is the text:

Thomas East Junr by his petition sets forth that several years since one Abigal [sic] Wakesfield (or Wakes - was continued on a second line) was delivered of a base born son, and made oath that he was his father by Reason whereof he was put to some charge and moreover compelled to give bond and security to indemnify the Parish and he therefore prays that the child not in the possession of Henry Childers may be bound to him. Whereupon it is ordered that the sheriff of this county do summon the said Childers to appear at the next Court to answer the said Petition.
