I have links to Vye's who were stone masons near Corfe castle in Dorset. my ancestors moved to Ramsgate in Kent to build the Harbour and later became grocers there. I am not doing formal research at present but would be interested to hear if you have any Dorset links

yes my husbands family do have connections in dorset they all come from there,and we have in our posession a family tree for a branch of vyes in kent who originated from dorset.

I would be interested in any information that you have my maternal Grandmother(Madge) was a Vye who married C.J.Taylor. The Family moved to Ramsgate in connection with the building of the harbour and later became successful grocers.

My ancestor was John Vye and his daughter Mary Vye married a Richard Parminter in Ilfracombe Devon England 2 May 1783. Any information of the family of Richard of that time.Also any Vye-Parminter`s of current time 2001

I am researching my family tree who are from Melcombe Regis originally. My G.G.Father is Thomas Vye born in 1850. He was married to a Fanny Vye and had 4 children. George, Fanny, Walter and Rose. Walter was my Great Grand father and was born in 1877. He married a Mary Louisa Attwood in Osney, Oxford in 1899. They had 6 children my Grand father Ceicil being the last of them, he was born in1907 in Chester.

Hi Lisa, I have done as much of my family tree as far as i can go. The first name I started with is of a JOHN VYE 1660. The family tree is in roots web under FAMILY TREE. There is a lot of VYE's in there. Maybe this will help you. Let me know as you may be able to fill some gaps on the VYE side of my family Les

I have recently startyed ti try and compile my family tree. My information of the past(when a child enquiring of my father)JOHN BAGGS VYE, was that the Vyes originated in Dorset; were landowners(I read that some Vye brothers were sentenced for smuggling (Lulworth Cove in middle 1500s. My father also stated that it became customary for the first born male to have the name Baggs included in their christian names; he decided that he would be the last!!)My fathers father was named Henry and my G/Grandfather was was named JohnBaggs Vye.JHV
