I understand the lack of information on William H Tags. I spoke to his daughter personally a few years back. But unless William refused to tell his complete story to his own children, I'm not sure the story measures up.

Primarily, as Stella Angel tells it, William stumbled unto a farm he was unfamiliar with and was then handed over to a strange family, Julia Carlile. If Elizabeth were to pass him off, there would be some correspondence between the two sisters. But William acknowledged nothing of the sort.
It is true that he seemed to be dumped unto the Carlile family, they treated poorly by his account. But in the end of Charles' life William respected the Carlile family enough to make a journey across the Midwest to where Charles died on to Virginia.

How do you speculate that William H Tags is the chosen name of Richard Calvin Carlile? Is it because they had the same birth year? My records show at least three Carlile children, do you speculate all of these children were fostered out? William Tags claimed at least partial native Indian blood, are you speculating that George W Carlile is Indian?

Direct decedent,
John Taggs
