my history goes back to John Abraham Vuagniaux- born 1835 in Alsacc Lorrain France died 1860 married Mary Louise Jacques. the familally name was changed to Wonio when they? or there kids moved to the US in the 1850'S they were in winniconnie Wisc. could there be a conection?

On my web site see section under genealogies and there is the Vuagniaux tree going back to late 1700's. The family was in Bond County Ill. at the beginning of the civil war.

Hi - I don't have a response for you - but was shocked to find my name on the site - are we related? My Grandfather is Robert Wonio, of Iowa, who had two sons, Michael and Rand. I don't know much else...

My mother's maiden name is Wonio. Her ancestors on her father's side of the family is from a part of france and their name was vuagniaux. they moved to Oshkosh Wis and her we are.

I am thinking Mary Louise Jacques Vuagniaux remarried Francis LaBelle. They are listed in the 1880 Census along with her sons from previous marrage Charles, James, &
John A. Wonio. John Abraham Wonio would have been my Great x3 Grandfather. Do you have any more info on Mary Louise or John Abraham Vuagniaux?
