Hugh T. Wrhel - Pekin, Illinois to Ohio - 1930-2015

MANSFIELD: Hugh T. Wrhel, age 84, of Mansfield, Ohio and formerly of Mount Gilead, Ohio died Monday morning, January 26, 2015, at MedCentral Hospital in Mansfield, Ohio.

On March 31, 1930, Hugh was born in Pekin, Illinois, the son of the late Hugo and Elizabeth (Tarman) Wrhel, and as a family they moved to Mount Gilead, Ohio in 1939.

He graduated from Mount Gilead High School in the Class of 1948, and was a USAF Veteran of the Korean Police Action.
Hugh retired after 32 years with the former North Electric Co. of Galion, Ohio and I.T.T. Corp., where he worked as an electrical engineer.

He will be missed by his wife, Luella M. (George) Wrhel of Mansfield, Ohio; a daughter, Cynthia Ann (Ken) Mercer of Harrisville, RI; two granddaughters: Bridget Melodie Bunting of Kailua, HI, and Natalie Jeanne (John) NeeSmith of Farmersville, Texas; seven great-grandchildren: Todd Thomas of TX, Jackson, Brooke, and Landon of HI, and Isabella, Peyton, and Johnny of TX; two sisters: Carolyn Bachelder of Mansfield, and Deanna (Richard) Sarchet of Frazeysburg, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Including his parents, Hugh was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Kammer.

Per Hugh's wishes, services will not be observed and he will be cremated.

Hugh's daughter would like to extend a heartfelt "thank you" to all of those who remained friends with him over the years and especially his step-son, Neil Robinson, and his wife, Deb, for all of the help and care they gave to Hugh over the last few years of his life.

Also, a special "thank you" to the staff of Lexington Court Nursing Home, where he spent some time in rehabilitation and Wedgewood Estates Assisted Living Community, where he made his home with his wife until his death.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association .
