Hello,

My grandfather was Martin Vrabel and was a long shoreman in NYC. He was born in Namestovo, Slovakia. Martin had a large family and they settled in Uniontown, PA. and some in Ohio. When Martin and his brother John came to America they changed there name VRABEL to WRABEL to become more Americanized. Other VRABEL names are: Anton (Anthony), Frank, Jano (John), Josef/Jozef (Joseph), Katarina (Katherine), Marisa, Olga, Steve Terza...

Any connections, please E-mail me!

Do you know where in Slovakia your Vrabel (Vrabely) ancestors lived? I recently learned that my great-grandfather changed his name, in Europe, from Vrabely to Varady. He lived in Kosice before coming to America, but according to his work papers he was born in Bajorvargas, now Bajerovce, in Eastern Slovakia, in 1870.
