Unfortunately, my Anna Wrabetz was born in the Czech republic, in what used to be Moravia. Do you know where in Canada your Annie Vrabec settled?

Thanks
Mary

ATTENTION ANGELA RENNER----
I am Stacy Ferguson, the person who started the message board about Vrabecz. WE NEED TO GET TOGETHER HERE....I really blew it when I said I was researching my G-grandmother Anna Vrabecz from Slovenia. It doesn't take much to confuse me! My father's family comes from Hungary--Slovakia (the paternal side) and Slovenia (Maternal side). I confused the two. My Anna Vrabecz comes from Pressburg, Pozmeg---we think it is now Bratislava. Her brother was Martin Vrabecz and they came together---they changed their last name to Rapp when they arrived. Anna and Martin's parents were Martin Vrabecz (senior) and Verona Sprela! I have birth and death dates for them all. Martin settled in Red Lodge, MT and that is where I located his SS application, which lists his parents. Martin's wife's name was Emma, who was born in MT.

My Anna was born 3 Aug 1886 (check her out on www.familysearch.org under Anna Vrabecz)
in Pressburg, Pozmeg, Hungary and she married my great grandfather Joseph Baczuk on 8 April 1911 or so. My grandfather, Joseph Baczuk, jr. was born 14 Nov 1911---in Michel, B.C. Canada, then they later moved to Red Lodge, MT where Martin lived, and then on to Ogden, Utah, where they both died and are buried.

Hi Stacey!!!

I emailed you a couple times but just wanted to make sure you get the message that I finally checked the message board after a few months of a break. My emails changed since my first post so you would not have been able to email me previously. Anyways let me know if you did not get my emails. I think our Annas are the same!!! Your grandfather would be my half granduncle which I think makes you some kind of second cousin????

Hi,

I am Krunoslav Vrabec from Croatia and all I can say is that VRABEC means sparrow here in Croatia too, so we come to the conclusion that Vrabec surname is from Slovak origin and spread through eastern Europe - later all over the world (but lots of them changed or modify their surnames).

All I know is that Vrabec familly's tree were basiclly peasants, farmers and hard working man.
