Page 69 of this book incorrectly lists Josiah Vose's death date of Mar 7, 1782. I hope that someone knows who can correct this incorrect data. He actually died May 4, 1843 in Francestown and was a well-known "hatter." This Josiah is the son of Nathaniel Vose III and Ruth Miller and has constantly been confused with Josiah Vose (Capt.) born Jun 16 1641 (who married Margaret Rush and Ruhamah Vose)and who is BROTHER to Nathaniel Vose III. The book of History of Francestown give the line of Josiah and his children, etc. He married Judith Coffin and had children Nancy, Judith, Elisha, Sally, Herbert and Mary Vose. I don't know why this error was ever caught, but I hope someone can have answers and provide the appropriate revisions. How was THAT 1782 death date obtained? Any information would be appreciated.

HI, I have an extensive library of vital records including
the Vose Book, plus access to genealogical library her in Salt Lake City, also have a copy of History of Francestown (just the pages ref. Vose) which doesn't give Josiah's parents, but I could not find anything on Capt. Joseph (Josiah) marrying Margaret Rush only Ruhamah Vose and the only Josiah they had died young. I couldn't find anything on
the death date 7 Mar 1782 Leominster, MA in any of the records for Leominster. So, it is my belief that what you say is correct and until I find out otherwise have changed my master Robert Vose and his Descendants which I put into
PAF and Gedcom format.
Please see my Vose website www.voses.info
thanks, Charlie Vose

I also believe this Josiah Vose was born in Milton, Mass., Sept 25, 1767 to Nathaniel Vose, III and Ruth Miller. Another researcher had a Josiah Vose born March 2, 1766 in Boston, Mass. to Captain Josiah Vose and Margaret Rush. Do you have any record of the date of birth and where Josiah Vose was born? Nobody seems to have this information - on such a historical "hatter" very well-known first settler in historical Francestown, NH. I know the History of Francestown book has listed that the Josiah Vose who died in 1843 in Francestown, New Hampshire states he is a native of Milton, Mass. Yes, I have that - Josiah Vose and Rumahah Vose had a child, Josiah Vose (1774-1775), which is why I don't believe my Josiah Vose is their son. It seems a parent would not have named a son Josiah in 1766 or 1767 (who lived to 1843) to then 8 years later name another child Josiah (1774-1775). Please keep me posted on future finds. Thank you.
