I'm researching Ernst Voland, who lived in the Schleswig, Kiel, New Holstein areas of Wisconsin. He married Mary Stange in 1875, and died in 1917. They had 7 children, and I've been able to trace much of the family tree beneath him, but I'm interested in whether he had any siblings that came to Wisconsin from Germany with him, and whether there are any family stories about who he was or what he did. In the 1910 census, he's listed as an Inmate at the Northern Hospital for the Insane near Oshkosh, but I can't find any records or information about why he was there.
