Of POSSIBLE interest to this family thread...
An obituary of sorts appeared in the Lafayette (CO) Leader newspaper on April 22, 1910 as follows:
"Dies from Injuries Received March 19
John Voka, a Bohemian, who was injured in the Standard mine near Lafayette on March 19th, died at the St. Joseph hospital in Denver, April 17th. After removal to the hospital he contracted typhoid fever which was the cause of his death. Deceased leaves a wife and four children in Bohemia. He was a sober industrious man, who regularly sent part of his wages to the loved ones in the home land, and at the time of his injury was ready to send for them. The remains were laid to rest in Lafayette cemetery at the expense of the Miners Union and under the direction of undertaker R.R. Powell. The funeral services were conducted by the pastor of the Congregational church."
Note: This burial was apparently not recorded with the city clerk's office and there is no headstone to mark the exact location. The city of Lafayette is located in Boulder County, Colorado.
I am not related but hope this is helpful to someone.
