Mystery Blow Kills Lake Man
Lake Kills--Melbourne W. Voight, 26, route 1, Verona, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Voight, Lake Mills, died Sunday noon in the Methodist hospital, Madison, from a brain injury caused by a blow of unknown nature.
Voight was found lying unconscious along Highway 18-151 near Madison on Saturday night. An autopsy Sunday showed he had died of a brain injury.
Madison police ruled out the possibility that Voight had been hit by a car and dumped at the scene. Mrs. Frank Blizzard, route 3, Madison, said that about 10 minutes before he was discovered she had seen Voight walk past the store she and her husband operate on the highway.
When Voight was found his right shoe was torn off. His only other visible injuries were minor facial bruises doctors said.
Voight was born in 1926 in Lake Mills. He was employed by the Humphrey Tree Expert Co. in Madison.
Surviving are his wife, the former Carol Trieloff, of Watertown; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Voight; a brother, Robert, and four sisters, Mrs. Frances Korth, Mrs. Everett Wollin, Mrs. Hilbert Miller and Mrs. Charles Anderson, all of Lake Mills.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Evangelical U.B. church, the Rev. Milton Nehrbass officiating Burial will be in Rock Lake cemetery. Friends may call at the Hoskins-Westin funeral home.
