I assume you're asking about Govt Surveyor GARRET VLIET of Milwaukee and not his uncle Major General Garret Vliet of Hunterdon and Warren Counties, NJ. I didn't mean he was 'famous' to the point that his name is known to all; he was famous to the degree that he was a government worker who explored and documented the territory that eventually became known as Milwaukee.
