since I retired I do not have the time I had intended to use on my geneology..all retired folks say "amen" Anyway, in talking to an Uncle, he said that my grandmother, whose mother was a "Vlach", said that it meant "shepherd." Oral tradition is usual quite accurate, I think. The Rev

My husband's great grandparents were Frank Vlach and Rebecca Berry. My father-in-law who is their grandson, lives with us here in MN

There is a mistake in my last message. James Vlach from Cicero, Ill. He was married to Barbara not Johanna.

Check for Vlach's that live in D.G. Relatives that were from Cicero

I believe my Great Grandfathers name was Frank - from Cicero. His wife was Vlasta.

My great grandmother's name was Emma although she went by Emilie in later years. I am looking for information about her and possibly her parents. Emma was born in Iowa, and she married Lee Michel in Iowa. They both died in MN. Anyone have any information on this part of the Vlach family?

I'm not sure if the Vlachs I have in my tree are of the same line or not. My great-grandfather was James Joseph Vlach, b 1872 d 1930 and he was married to Barbara Vlna, b 1875 d 1938. Both James and Barbara were born overseas I think but I don't have locations. I'm not sure about siblings but I know that he had a son (my grandfather) named Frank, a grandson (my dad) named Frank and a great-grandson (my brother) named Frank. There seems to be a lot of use of the names James and Frank associated with the Vlach name so I'm not sure if those are matches or just similarly named people. If any of this rings a bell with anyone, please let me know.
