As a member of the Irish branch of the Vizards, I'm looking for any data on when Vizards first appeared in Ireland. Earliest reference I can find is 1796 in Roscommon.
I also believe that the Vizards are decendents of Strathcylde Britons, but there also appears to be a heavy concentration of them in Gloucstershire, England. All told, the UK phone book has 189 Vizards. There's another 22 or so in France and about 100 in the US. There was also some kind of knight named Vizard in the 13th century from Glousctershire.
I've also found references to Vizards in pre-revolutionary Va, and 4 Vizards who served in the Union army and 1 that served in the Confederate army.
There is also a reference to a Vizard creek in Calif, and a Mount Vizard in Austrailia.
Any additional info would be much appreciated.
