HI,

My great grandmother was named Adelina Villari, she had brother Carl. Her father was Giuseppi Villari and Mariannia Villari (Bruno). There is an interesting twist to this family I am trying to fingure out. I think Mariannia married Giuseppi's brother, Frank Villari, in New York before coming to RI.

Adelina's half siblings ended up in orphanage in NY>

Do you have any more information.
Do you know where in Messina Sicily Giuseppe and brother Frank Villari came from? They also had a sister who I don't know the name.

thanks,

Michael

My grandfather's name was Domenico Villari, but was in Cincinnati about the same time. In 1908, there was a major earthquake, killing my great grandfather, and my grandfather was sent to USA with an Uncle.
However, my grandmother's mother's maiden name was also Villari, and I have been told that her relatives where in Philidelphia. My great grandmother's name was Pietrina Villari and had she had a brother Mateo Villari and a sister Caterina Villari. Their parent's names were Felix and Marina Villari. I know the names from an 85 year old aunt, but know little else about them. Mateo's family is the one I am told came to Philidelphia - I am not sure if that means he came or if his decendants came. He would be about the right age to have a son of marrying age in the early 1900's. I don't know if there is anyway to check - but it would be fun if we could make the connection!

I am looking for members of the Freni family. My grandfather Carmelo Freni came to America (through Ellis Island to Connecticut) from Messina, Sicily in about 1906. I believe he had a sister, Carmella, who married Domenico Villari and they are listed in the 1910 census, Philadelphia as having Guiseppe and Rocco Freni in their household as brothers-in-law of Domenico. Would be happy to exchange information.

My maiden name was Villari and I originally came from Phila. Pa. My grandfather, who was a Villari and whose given nmae was Anthony, came to the US sometime between 1900 and 1910 and settled in Phila. Don't know if we are related to Domenic. A little side light. Both my father and brother claim that the Villari family emigrated to Sicily from Spain sometime in the late 18th or early 19th century and at the time of their arrival in Sicily their lat name was de Villare. Don't know if this is fact or fiction.
Regards

I am not sure how to use the system to reply.

My Grandfather was Domenico Villari, born in San Fillipo (In the hills outside Messina) in 1893. His Father, Salvatore was born in 1862. Salvatore had a brother Pietro - Peter - who came to the US, but had no children. He had a sister Rosa, who had a son Orazio, so that first name is somewhere in my background - I would assume. Salvatore's father was Domenico (again)born in 1831. Hopefully not too closely related, but the Villari name comes in on my grandmother's side, also. My Great-grandmother's name was Patrina Villari, but I cannot find her birth record, so I am not sure where she is from - but it should be about 1875.
