To introduce myself, I'm Christopher Vieau, an 18 year old college student from Utica, Michigan. I'm doing a geneological studies project for my college Anthropology class. I'm having difficulty doing this, as there are so many Vieau's in Wisconsin and Michigan, none whom I can seem to link to me. I know we're all related somehow, I just can't find where that link is.
Unfortunately, it seems that my history has not been passed on throughout the generations. The furthest back I can trace myself is to my great grandfather, Louis John Vieau, who, according to my father, came from Montreal, Quebec. He married Mary Mageau. His son, my grandfather, Louis Vieau, was born in Cheboygan, Michigan along with seven brothers and eight sisters. The only males I can name are Theodore, Louis Paul, Kenneth, Louis (my grandfather), and Euclid; the other two brothers possibly died earlier in their lives. The only sisters I can name are Kathryn, Doris, and Helen. My grandfather was born in Cheboygen and currently resides there. My father was born in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in Roseville, a suburban city outside of Detroit.
I've looked at other geneological charts and pages on the internet and have seen only a few explanations of where the Vieau family came from. Some have suggested that a man named Michel (not sure if it's spelled that way) Vieau came from Marseilles, France. I've also seen a great deal of things about a man named Joseph Vieau who was a fur trapper in Wisconsin. I just don't know how to link them to me.
If anyone has any information about the Vieau family that could benefit me in my studies, please feel free to e-mail me at
chrisakathepork@hotmail.com. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
