Hi, I don't really have an answer to your question, but rather questions of my own. My name is Ernel Vialva and I am from the twin republic of Trinidad & Tobago- Trinidad more specifically. I didn't grow up with my father except for the first two years of my life. His name is Ernest Vialva. There's a story here which could be titled "TRUTH STRANGER THAN FICTION" but we won't get into that.
However, I have always thought the name Vialva was spanish because all the Vialva's I know about settled in the southern part of Trinidad and have Relatives in Venezuela. What is strange to me, however, is that the VIA seems to be an unusual prefix for spanish names except for Viallobos. I also thought that it might have been Portuguese. Then I asked the librarian,at my last job, for some ideas on researching my name and she said it sounded Italian {I personally thought she was crazy. Trinidad has a very diverse culture of mainly africans, east indians, spanish, portuguese, chinese, syrians, etc.,but not much in the way of italians. Anyway, it got me to start considering alternative spellings. That's when I came across the name VIALA, which is vey close to VIALVA. So, if there's anything you can share with me about the name VAILA and where it's from, the derivative of its spelling, I would truly appreciate it. Thank you in advance. I know this a long email, but what can I say.
Peace & Love
Ernel Vialva
