As I write this there is only one other message on the Ver Hoeve board, and it is also mine. My last name is now Wilson. A great deal has been learned about the family's origins in Goedereede, Zuid Holland, as well as connections to Ouddorp. The spelling there is/was Verhoeve, but the family made a small change when they got to the US. The older spelling, according to some records, was Verhoeven. My VerHoeves immigrated to Northern New Jersey, in the Lodi,Garfield, Passaic, Clifton area. Closely related families are Meyer (Meijer) and Westdyke (Westdijk). The name was also spelled Wasdyke in the US. My grandfather's (Abe Verhoeve) sister Martha married Ted (Theodore) Voorman, and I would like to find someone with an interest in that family. Anyone is welcome to email me directly - jomarlin@bellsouth.net. I am willing to share my information and hope that you have some too.
