Hi, I'm looking for my grandfather's family. I searched every geneology site on the internet and I couldn't find anything until now. My grandfather's name is Christopher Venning Sr. was born on August 27, 1919 and died in 1963 from cancer. He is married to my grandmother Martha Venning who presides in Charleston, South Carolina. My grandfather frew up in Mount Pleasant. My mother Marthena L. Venning told me that my grandfather sat her and her brothers' and sisters' down and told them that his grandfather was white. My understanding is that The Vennings' of South Carolina were into building ships and that they had money. Also there is a Venning house, cemetary, and a street in SC. My mother says that his father's name was William and his grandfather too I think. We have a lot of Christopher's in our family. My mother also told me that her father's mother had long straight hair, she was half Indian. My grandfather was very light skinned and we are African-American too. My grandfather's sister ran off with a China man years ago my grandmother tells me. My grandmother just turned 79 yesterday and she is as sharp as a whip with her memory, so she knows a lot of stuff.
