I am currently engaged in researching my uncle's service in WW2; he was a B-17 pilot with the 8th Air Force, who, along with his crew, was killed on June 11, 1944 when his airplane crashed into the ocean near the isles of Guernsey and Jersey. In my research, I have been in contact with a British museum that would like to prepare a presentation next year, featuring this crew on the sixtieth anniversary of their loss.
The tail gunner in this crew was Sgt Julio vega from Los Angeles CA. Air Force documents list his next of kin as:
Mrs. Eva Vega (Mother)
5064 West Pico
Los Angeles, California
I am trying to locate surviving relatives of all the crew members in hope of obtaining photos and other information about them, to provide the museum with the material for an outstanding presentation, and a worthy memorial to this crew.
If anyone on this board is a relative of Sgt Vega, or knows of one, I would appreciate any assistance you could lend to this project.
Thanks
- Bill Gavin
