Surnames: Veal, Twilley
Veal, Anderson 1m16-26 1f16-26
NOTE: Anderson Veal (b.1798VA-d.1879GA) married 1819 Putnam Co GA to Mary "Polly" Twilley (1805-1884)

Anderson C. Veal was a slaveholder and evidence suggests that Sallie (age: 30 in 1860) and Allen Veal (age: 9 in 1860) were slaves held by his family.

Anderson Veal b. 1798 in Virgina

Sallie Veal is also listed as born in Virginia b.1830. Since she was born after the marriage of Anderson Veal and Mary Twilley in 1819, perhaps Sallie travelled with other members of Anderson Veal's family from Virginia later; and ownership was transferred as an inheritance...

1860 US Federal Census - Slave Schedules refer to both Sallie and Allen Veal as owned by Anderson Veal. Evidence of this is supported in subsequent Census that were taken.

I am investigating the relationship between Sallie and Allen. Allen Veal is my 3rd great-grandfather. I am hoping to find any evidence of his parentage.

Sallie lived with Mary Veal (nee: Twilley) in the 1880 census data.

Thank you for any assistance that you can provide.

Hello Zenbabie:

I don't know if you have done the DNA thing but I have and I am a descendent of Anderson C. Veal. If you want to compare dna (I've been told this can be done on genmatch.com ...anyway, perhaps Anderson was the father of Allen. This may be a way to find out.
