of North East,pa.
died on Friday October 8, 2010
at home. He was born on July 22, 1948
in Jeannette, Pa.
to the late Roy F. Sr. and Myrtle Young Veahman.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army as a crew chief helicopter mechanic. Roy graduated Elderton High School in 1966 and was employed at Zurn Industry as a welder for 22 years. He was also self-employed as a heating and air-conditioning contractor for several years. Roy was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church, American Legion Post 105, VFW Post 4789, and American Legion Riders. Roy loved his family and friends and enjoyed motorcycling, fishing, gardening, and helping others. He was preceded in death by two sons, Eric and Michael Veahman; his brothers and sisters; Flora Miller, Erma Veahman, Phillip Veahman, Debrow Negich, Edward Veahman, Clyde Veahman, Harry Veahman. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Elaine M. Szymanowski Veahman whom he married December 4, 1971;
daughters, Patricia Lancaster and husband Christopher of Strasburg, Pa. and Carol Pierce of Sherman, N.Y.; grandchildren, Stephanie, Tyler, Dana, and Tristan Pierce and Sawyer and Ronan Lancaster;
brothers, Louis Veahman and wife Joyce of Jacksonville, Fla.
and Francis "Franky" Veahman and wife Peggy of Hookstown, Pa.;
sisters Roberta Beaver of Claridge, Pa., Paula Fox of Ford City, Pa.,
Nancy Heffelfinger and husband Melvin of Kittanning, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street North East on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 and are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Officiating Fr. David Prenatt. Interment St. Gregory Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be made to the North East American Legion Post 105 South Mill Street North East, PA 16428.
