My grandmother was Mary Ann Weverka(Vaverka/Waverka/Vereka?). Her father was John Weverka born 1849, died 1888 Ennis, TX. Census records say he was born in Bohemia. Mary's mother was Annie May Weverka. Annie May (born August 9,1849 in Bohemia, immigrated in 1877) was evidentally the second wife of John Weverka because Mary had two older half-brothers, James W., and Louie J. Weverka.
She had a full brother, Frank Joseph Weverka.
Believe Annie May was the daughter of John May who came from Poland. Do know that the Weverka's, Shebesta's Zelenka's and May's were in Ennis, TX early on according to some information I've come across. The Weverka's also spent some time in Dallas, TX. Jan Jakub Schebesta (b. 1845) and his wife Katrina(b. 1843) are buried in the same cemetery. Jan Jakub Schebesta and John May were witnesses to my GGrandfather's will. Frank and Wencen (Wenzel?) Weverka were an apprentice blacksmiths living in the Zelenka household in Dallas according to 1889-18894 Dallas, TX City Directory. Can there be a connection with the Minnesota Weverka's/Vaverka's?
There is also a marker for Frantiske Vaverka, which says in part, Narosen 1882, V Lechach, Zemzel 5 Kvetna 1918. I understand this is a relative, too, maybe uncle Frank Weverka/Vaverka. Mary Zelenka born 1839 in the same plot with my GGrandfather . There is also a Mary Galetka born 1839. Someone has to have information on the above people through which I may be able to find out more about my gggrandparents. I also have digital photos of many of the tombstones of the above people. My mother told me that her Grandfather was an interpreter on Ellis Island. I had assumed at the time in was John Weverka, but suppose it could have been John May.
