Hello,
I would be most grateful if you would help me with some query's regarding my family tree. My Grandmother said that we had an ancestor who was a French cowman named Vacher and that there was a family link to the Tolpuddle Martyers.
I have traced my ancestors using Ancestry Census records back to my Great Great Grandfather who seems to have used the names of Jethro Vacher Guy and Jethro Guy, he was born circa 1836. He is recorded in the Old poor house Milton Abbas by the 1841 Census at the age of 5 with his Mother Ann Guy but no Father.
According to Dorset History Center / Parish records;-
• Jethro Guy married Ellen Old 16th Oct. 1858, Father Robert Old, Mother Dinah nee Foster.
• Ann Guy married Jethro Vacher 3dr March 1835.
• Ann Guy was Christened 11th June 1797 Father Richard Guy, Mother Jane.
• Jethro Vacher was Christened 2nd Oct. 1767 Father Jethro Vacher, Mother Elizabeth. (another Jethro Vacher Guy was Christened 21st Feb. 1768 Father Jethro Vacher, Mother Mary).
Any older information you could provide on the Vacher or Guy line would be of great interest. Unfortunately I'm not part of the Ancestry community, so I would be grateful if you would reply to my e-mail address

(and you think the Vacher - Guy line is difficult to trace!).
