Hi,

Sorry to take so long to reply. Dad had a heart attack shortly after you posted your message, and was sick all last year until he passed away until late November. Just could not bring myself to log in to Ancestry and put in his death date until now.

I know I have heard the Sprague name before in connection with your grandmother (who Dad called "Aunt Lenie," and who I had the privilege of meeting on several occasions -- a lovely lady she was), but not sure how it all fits together. (I gather you use the name Vaow, not Sprague, and your Dad did as well?) I also knew her sister (your great aunt) Cleota ("Aunt Cleotie"). My Dad was the son of their sister, Ianza May, who I did not get to meet (I was born 10 years after her death).

I actually found out at Dad's funeral that my cousin Sharon (and I guess she's your cousin too -- also a great grandaughter of Halleck and Hattie) has a LOT of information on all of this. Really wish I could have asked Dad for you -- he had a very good memory, and loved to talk about family. I do have some photos of your grandmother from a Vaow family reunion held sometime in the early 80's, I think. (Perhaps you or your Dad were there as well? I was a very young girl at the time -- maybe 8 or 9.) And we have a much older photo of what I think was another Vaow family reunion -- from the 1930's perhaps? -- Sharon was able to identify most of the people in it. Dad actually pointed out many of them to me when he showed me the photo -- but I stupidly did not write it all down, thinking that I'd have time to do it "later."

Anyway, my plan is to pick Sharon's brains on all of this, since she offered to share. I plan to scan in the family photos that Dad has, but it was my impression that his older brother (Sharon's Dad) had the lion's share of those materials.

Hope we can help each other out. I started this project as something I thought Dad would enjoy looking through. Now it is kind of a way to connect with him and his people. I know he loved his Aunt Lenie very much, and I think it is pretty neat that I can reach out accross the internet to her grandson.

Cheers,
Cynthia
