I have some information on Nancy Vance Hatfield. My aunt use to do genealogy. Nancy Vance was a sister of a former Governor of NC - Zeb Vance. Nancy was the granddaughter of Abner Vance, an Indian Scout. She married Ephrim (Eaf) Hatfield. Nancy and Eaf had 18 children. The second one was Anderson Hatfield, nicknamed "Devil Anse". Nancy Vance's ganddad, Abner, was a brother to David Vance II. Their father was David Vance I and their mother was Morning Star, an Indian. David and Abner had two sister, which was by Morning Star, by the name of Jane (Jenny) and Phoebe, which is my great,great grandmom. I know my mom always said that Morning Star use to set in the window and watch for her people to come riding by. Also David Vance I married later to a white woman and had children. The Vance Family would not claim kin to or have anything to do with the 4 children by Morning Star because they were "Half Breeds". Still yet the Vance family want admit to this. I have more on this.
