I know that David Vance I did have four children by Morning Star. David and Morning Star left NC and went to TN where she had four children by him. The children took the fathers last name although no marriage records was never found. They had two boys and two girls. Back then a lot of records on the Indians in NC wasn't kept. Later David Vance I had another family. But his children by Morning Star migrated to VA. Morning Star was know to her children and children's families as Squaw Mother. She was Cherokee and Morning Star means A New Beginning. When I get time and feeling better I will look in one of my Vance genealogy books and see if I can find any information on your line. The one book is on the Vance family in Piedmont, NC. There are Vance's that live here in
East TN. My line of Vance say that David Vance I didn't have kids by an Indian and they don't have it that his first four are part Indian. Mom always said they wouldn't claim kin to them. I have genealogy on that line also and it is not in there. Another one just put a book out that was the same but went a few more generations. She says there isn't any proof of it and want claim it. I even told her about it and that my aunt had found out some of it in NC. She still denies it. One lady said to have DNA done on him. I asked her what did she want done - have him dug up. I am proud to have Indian in me even though I don't look it. It can be a messed up piece of genealogy. This was known down through the generations but the old ones wouldn't hear of it.
