STOCKTON, Iowa - Rene Joseph Van De Walle, 81, of Stockton, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at Genesis Medical Center West in Davenport. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. The Rev. Nate Schroder will officiate. Organist will be Mabyn Fox and vocalist will be Henry Bentley. Pallbearers will be Bob Gries, Ron McConnaha, Jim Farmer, Stanley Van De Walle, Merle Van De Walle, and Tony Ballinger. Burial will be at the Durant Cemetery in Durant. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Van De Walle was born on Sept. 13, 1918, to Ernest and Cyriela Lema Van De Walle in Moline, Ill. He married Joyce Stoltenberg on July 17, 1918, in Davenport. He operated Durant Oliver Repairs in Durant for many years, and farmed in the Stockton area until he retired. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Van De Walle of Stockton; his children, Stanley Van De Walle and his wife, Sheryl, of Poplar Grove, Ill., Colleen Van De Walle and her fiance Tony, of Grand Island, Neb., Vern Van De Walle and his wife, Shari, of Durant, Lori Ballinger of Davenport, Merle Van De Walle and his wife, Bonnie, of Muscatine, Richard Van De Walle of Stockton and his wife, Lola, of Stockton, Lynn Van De Walle and her fiance, Jim, of Stockton, Lee Van De Walle of Stockton, Jodi McConnaha and her husband, Ron, of Muscatine, Jolene Gries and her husband, Bob, of Muscatine; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; two brothers, Francis Van De Walle of Dixon and Albert Van De Walle of Bettendorf; a sister, Elsie Randolph of Long Grove. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Van De Walle and his mother, Cyriela Van De Walle.
