Jean Valiquet land grant

I’m trying to determine the exact (current) location of the original plot of land that Jean Valiquet was given in 1659. I requested a copy of the land grant from the archives but I can’t read it, I even hired a graphologue but she couldn’t complete it. Just sharing this in case there’s anyone who can help translate the document.

Joseph Valiquette of Ottawa and Mass

Looking for information (parents) of a Joseph Henry Valiquette born about Oct 1865 in I believe Ottawa. About 1880 he married Julia Larabee of Gatineau (I believe her parents are Michel and Julie Johnson (Lafontaine).

Joseph had a son Joseph Henry born about 1880 in Canada, then Oscar Howard, born 1894 in Ottawa, Albert Leon born 1897 in Attleboro, MA, Flora Dora born 1900 in Pawtucket, Stephen Frank born 1904 in Mansfield, MA and Dorothy Mae, born 1908 in North Reading, MA

Joseph Henry died Apr 1930 in Pawtucket, RI and Julia Larabee died 1952 in Mansfield, MA.

I found Joseph and Julia in 1900 Census in Attleboro. But nothing before then other than the baptism of son Oscar in Ottawa in 1894.

Any information would be appreciated.

Michael,

I am excited to hear from you. Yes, I have been researching the posterity of Jacob Croushorn/Jakob Kraushaar who arrived in the U. S. in 1785, for the past forty years. All U. S. Croushorns descend from him. Elias Croushorn is one of his ten children, born in the Sugar Grove, Virginia (Now West Virginia) area.

My research is focussed on identifying all descendants of Jacob Croushorn. To date I have found about 3,000 of an estimated 10,000. My research on Elias' posterity is the weakest and so I would be very interested in learning what information you have.

You can contact me at
moroni4u@yahoo.com (email)
262-784-9280 (phone)

I look forward to hearing from you and will be happy to share whatever information may be of interest to you.

Glen R.
Do you live in NW Ohio? I am a desendant of the Velliquette family somewhere. My g-grandmother, Josephine Velliquette was born in Locust Point Ohio near Camp Perry. Her father was Edward Velliquette; her mother was Ann Durall. She was born in Aug 1864. The reason I ask where you live, the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center in Fremont Ohio has a geneology research library. Was there recently looking up Josephine; found many Velliquette, Valiquette, Villequette names there. If you are close check it out.

Cindy,

First of all I do beleive that your family is the only family that spells the last name that way and it should be Valiquette.

The reason for it being spelled that way was because back in the late 1800's and early 1900's the Valiquet's started to migrate to the USA. The american imigration officers could not read or speak french and this in turn like many other Valiquet's the name was phonetically spelled. This can be seen all over the USA where many Valiquet's came from Canada and the name changed from the original spelling. ie: Veliquet, Valleycate and many others. If you are looking for Franks farther try search the spellings of Valiquet, Valiquette or Valliquette in Canada. I have the largest Valiquette database in the world on line and I do no have the spelling of your family in it ..yet.. I may have Franks parents but you did not say who they were. my web site is http://valiquette1.tripod.com/valiquette/
so I hope I helped you a bit. I would like to add your family to the tree if you provide me with the info.

(Marguerite-Rosalie) VALIQUETTE m. Toussaint FABRE (dit LeRue?)

Please help...

I'm trying to find any information I can on this couple. Marguerite/Rosalie VALIQUETTE & Toussaint FABRE (poss. dit LERUE, LAROUX, etc)

I believe they married in 1825, on the Isle de Montreal.
She may have been Toussaint's 3rd wife.

Possible father of Toussaint is Charles.

Possible parents for Rosalie/Marg. - J-Bte VALIQUETTE, and Marguerite (GOKIE?).

They had children marry (& baptisms) in the Charlottenburgh, Glengarry area, and also St. Andrew's in Cornwall through the 1850s.

In particular, they had a daughter Angelique/Juliette FABRE - my g-g-g-grandmother. I am trying to find her - she may have had a different mother; and appears to have died by 1866. (seen as FABRE, LAROSE, LAROSEE, LAROSIER...)

I need a solid lead, some hard evidence. Any info to help track this couple, parents' leads, etc. would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks, Lynne :)
Hi Glen, I have also been researching the Croushorn family and I'm currently trying to pin down some specifics and I'm hoping that maybe you might have some more information that can help. Here is what I have been able to put togeather on the internet.

Elias Croushorn married Elizabeth (Bantzler/Ponsler) Stiger in Pickaway Co., Ohio in 1830. Now Elizabeh, I beleive is my 5 th great-grandmother that's the reason for my interest in this line. Anyway, they had 3 children one of which is Elias Jr. I have been able to locate the family in Preble Co. Ohio in the 1840 census and again in the 1850 census in Wayne Co. Indiana. In between 1850 and 1860 Elizabeth passed away I'm not sure where or when. In 1860 Elias was living with his son and his family in Carroll Co. Indiana. In the 1870 census Elias Jr. had moved to Ottawa Co. Ohio. I know that Elias Jr. was in the Civil War and that Elias Sr. was a Pastor of the Church of the Brethern at least he was in Wayne Co. because he married two of his step-sons, Abraham and Daniel Stiger in 1849. That is a summary of the information that I have. There is more detail and I'm hoping that maybe you might be able to fill some of the holes that I have remaining.

Thanks,
Mike Stiger

Hi,
Albert was born in Chicago, Cook County, IL in June 1869. His parents were from Quebec.
Agnes was born in Connecticut, Nov 1870. They had seven children. Her parents were from Ireland. I found this on the 1900 and 1920 census. I have not been able to locate their death dates. I have more info on this family if you are interested.
