I've run into conflicting information about the parents of Elizabeth
Valentine, who married Anthony
Cozart in 1662 in NY.
Some sources say Elizabeth was the daughter of
Valentine Claesen and Marretje
Jacobs. Valentine
Claessen used name Nicholas
Valentine (Nicholas is the anglicized version of
Claessen). Valentine
Claesen and Marretje
Jacobs were from the Netherlands, who settled in
Westchester County,
New York, and are said to be the
Dutch progenitors of the name
Valentine in
America.
Other sources say Elizabeth was the daughter of Jan ("John") Tymenson ("Timothy")
Valentine and Catherine Tamamizer, who were most likely descendants of the
Valentine family from
England.
Does anybody have good evidence to support either theory? Poor Elizabeth needs the right parents!
