Looking for the wife of Joseph Valentine4 (Richard3, Richard2, Richard1) probably born at North Hempstead or Oyster Bay abt 1710-18, probably died Columbia Co., NY bef 1790, son of Richard Valentine and Mary Pearsall. He is confused with his son of the same name in "Valentines of America", by T. W. Valentine.
It appears that he must have been married by 1748. According to family records he had children: Samuel (of whom I have not been able to find anything); Joseph b 6 Jan 1750, m 1776 Esther Atherson, d 1814 Cambridge, Washington, NY; Richard bc 1754, m (1) Sylvesta Beebe (2) Abigail Lee, d 1825 Caanan, Columbia, NY; John resided Windham, Greene, NY; Stephen (youngest son) bc 1761, d 1808 Herkimer Co, NY; Betsey; Effanna; Phebe (possibly the one m Abraham Mudge, tho most researcher don't think so); & Nancy. (I have never been able fine anything on any of the daughter.)

Hi Val, I am also looking for this same ancestor. I hope you check this board from time to time. I have hit a real "black hole" when it comes to Joseph Valentine. There are a lot of hints and "digital fingerprints" so to speak but not much info on the web. I believe I am a direct decendant via his son Richard, who had a son John, whose son Nathaniel C, whose son N Jay, who had a son Ray (who was my grandfather) and hence my father came to be. I can trace Nathaniel C (maybe short for Cady?) to Geauga (later Lake Co), OH. It is probable that John moved the family from Canaan, Columbia Co, NY to Ohio. Ray then moved back to Long Island NY back to where the family started and raised his family. Any help in this quest would be appreciated. Hopefully, we can help each other out in investigating this lineage. Also I am looking for any info at all about Mary Cady who is supposedly the 1st wife of John Valentine and I believe to be my Great-great-grandmother.

Hi Val, Glad to hear from you. I'll still interested too.
I run into your good work every now and then. I just don't have anything new at the moment for that branch of the family. I think you did send me your correct email at some point but thanks for the reminder.
I'll email you privately.
Lisa
