I have looked at the various postings here. Some of the Vahey websites (links here) are now gone. The forum at
http://vahey.ca/phpforum/ come up with a "critcal error," so can't post anything there.
My family history website is at
www.lordoflucies.com and thre is some Vahey information there.
I am currenty looking for John Austin Vahey, born 5 Aug 1899 in Brickens, Ballyhaunis District, County Mayo, Ireland.
John was the twin of my grandmother, Mary Catherine (Kate) Vahey. Mary emigrated to the States in 1916, arriving at Ellis Island.
Mary's page, and the information I have about her, is posted at:
http://lordoflucies.com/tng/getperson.php?personID=I5&tr...She never talked about her twin brother.
I learned today that John Austin Vahey moved to England, possibly to the Manchester area. He may have had a son. My distant, 82 year old relative in Ireland says that there was someone looking for information about John's family in Ireland a few years ago, but he didn't manage to find her.
I have, so far, been unable to track John's death on the English BMD index.
Does anyone have any information on John Austin Vahey, born 1899 in County Mayo? If so, please get in touch.
I'd also like to try to take this branch of my family history back further. So far it goes back to Thomas Vahey, born about 1821, and his wife Bridget Curly, born about 1826. Any earlier information would also be appreciated.
My e-mail address is
craig@hmdp.com or I can, of course, be contacted via this thread.
Kind regards,
Craig Walsh
