I am in Arizona and curious to talk to other Uustalu's. In the U.S it is not a common name. I would like to talk to others, possibly find out about others out there who I could possibly be related to..
The other Uustalu''s (ja kõik muud tegelased ka :) )

Hi! I'm one of the many Uustalu's we have around here (I mean Estonia :) ). If you look around (you don't even need a phone book) You'll see quite many of them. Mostly not relatives (at least not for me) but it's still nice funny to meet them.
Terekest! Sama perekonnakonnanimega isikute kodulehe loomine on tegelikult üsna huvitav idee ja ma jään edaspidiseid sündmusi pikisilmi ootama.

I recently noticed your posting, it was fascinating because of my Estonian ancestory. My Great Grandfather was born in Estonia May 30, 1887. He came to America before 1920, it is said they shortened his name upon arrival. Any information on this name would be greatly appreciated as there is only three living Ustals in America

My grandfather's name was Hans Ustal. He was born in 1882, lived in Boston when he came to America and then in Teaneck, NJ. My mother said their original name was Uustalu and, of course, they were from Estonia. I think he came over just before my Mother was born in 1916. We have postcards from a town called Parnu in Estonia, so we assume he was from that area. His 2nd wife was named Marie Tonisson and was born in 1891 with a brother named August, also from Estonia. His first wife was named Mary Kair. His sister was Alma Uustalu and my Mother was Alma Ustal and I am Barbara Alma. His only son, my uncle, had no children so the name had died out here. Is is interesting to find out how rare the name is in America and how common in Estonia. My best wishes to all the other Ustal's, relatives or not.

I live in New York now for about 13 years already. I was born and raised in Tallinn. The Uustalus in my family are originally from Viru-Jaagupi, my great great grandfather Tonu Uustalu was born around 1860. Tonu's son my great grandfather was also called Jüri. My grandfather, Arnold Uustalu was born in 1904 and died in the World War II.
