This is all I have so far, is this the same family?
Would love anything you have on Charles and
Flora.
Flora was my great grandmother's half sister.
Also, a widow to one of the children was still alive as of last year, she is blind but good memory; a granddaughter also has information but has not passed it on to me.

I believe that this is the same family. Other information that I have for
Flora is:
Daughter of:
Ewel
O'DONALDAbt. 1834 Cincinnati, Boone County, OH

Linton,
Greene County, IN
married
Abt. 1874 in
Coshocton County, OH to:
Ethalinda

The 1880 Census lists Ewel as Uel:

As you can see, the census takers were not all that great about spelling. Ewel was a widow when he married Ethelinda. His previous marriage was to Elisabeth Ann SHARPLESS. I have also seen Ethalinda as Ethalinda
FOSTER HAYS. One little bit I picked up about Ewel:
Terre Haute Tribune Wednesday, April 23, 1913 page 3
Drops Dead in Street,
Linton, Ind. April 23
Ewell
O'DONALD, 79 years old, fell dead in this city yesterday while talking to a friend on the street. He was a well read man and took a keen interest in politics in his younger days. He made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Charles W. Utterback, who resides in the northwest part of this city. He has one son, whose home is in
Kansas City. The body will be shipped
Bloomfield and burial will be Wednesday afternoon from
Simpson chapel.
Notice that this article spells Ewel's name with an extra "l" at the end and has Charles' middle initial as "W" instead of "M." I think newspaper articles are about as accurate as the census. It is a possibility but I take it with a grain of salt until I can confirm it with documentation (birth or death certificate, draft registration, etc).
As for the children of
Flora and Charles: do you happen to know if Ethel or Nellie got married? If so, to whom?
I believe that William Earl is listed in the SSDI:
WILLIAM
UTTERBACK21-Nov-1907
Apr-82
47441 (
Linton,
Greene, IN)
(none specified)
304-01-5599
Indiana
I don't know if he married or, if so, to whom. I have even less information on his younger brother, James Edgar.
As for ancestors: those are well documented. Charles Milton was the son of Francis Marion who was the son of William D who was the son of Henry who was the son of
Johann Henrich OTTERBACH, the younger who immigrated from
Prussia with his uncle of the same name.
Hope some of this helps.
