I have now record of a Bertha. I do have several Utechts in Milwaaukee. Some were from Germany. There are as follows:
Cy and Walter from germany b. 1892 and 1893
Frank, Hedwig(hattie),Wladyslaw, Ladislaus born in Milwaukee
10/1893, 1895,1898, and 1904 respecfully.

Father name was Bernard. Bernard also had a brother Anton.
Let me know if this helps.

When was your Bertha born? And who were her parents? Some of my family are buried in Wanderer's Rest Cemetery, now renamed ........ can't think of it off the top of my head! (Lincoln Memorial?) I'll check and get back to you

Wow, that was quick. I am wondering if you have any
ancestors in my line. Put it this way, I am at my
wits end and pray you can help. I have been searching
my Utechtt's off and on now since 2001. I am at the
time on again and would appreciate any help. I just
recently found out that there is a possible connection to
Wisconin Utechtt's. My great great grandmother was a
Quade. Her name was Maria(Mary). She may have had a
sister (which I am trying to prove) that may have been
Emilia Quade Buch. I have this woman's obit but no mention
of her siblings or her maiden name. Anyhow to make a
long story short I was wondering if you had any of these
names in your Utechtt line or could list what you have
and maybe I will eventually link some. Thanks so much
for any help.

This thread doesn't really tell much about your Utecht ancestors, but there were at least 2 Utecht families that used Milwaukee's German language newspapers for their family notices: Herm. & Carolina, and a Wm. and Mathilda. This info. comes from the library resource called "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950). The Utech / Uttech spellings are more commonly found in these papers with over 100 entries or references, but there are about 25 Utecht / Uttecht entries or references - even Utteck (Geo. & Olga).
