Hi there - I (Michael Craig) am your 4th cousin 2X removed - Hunt for Mary Amanda Yoha NOT URIE and you will find your relatives. She is in my tree (via her mother Lovina Bachelder Yoha), so I do not go back much further in the Lightfoots, but at least it will be the correct one. They are all from Ashland County Ohio.

I'm glad you are back to working on the tree. Before Marion died she told me some stories about the Uries from Scotland and I know your Mom has the Urie family book. It was a soft covered book with a green cover about the size of regular paper and about a half inch thick. Marion had included some corrections in it. There is a historical society in Craftsbury that might have a copy of the book if you can't find yours. Marion was very proud of her Scottish heritage and would be so happy to know someone is keeping up the tree.

Hello,

I've been having difficulty finding information on my surname. I understand that it's a Basque surname and probably originates from the small town of "Urnieta" in Spain. Although I know this information, I can't seem to find many Urieta's in the U.S. or Mexico. My grandparents were originally from Cd. Altamirano, Guerrero, Mexico.

Thank you for your time,
D. Urieta

I am a descendant of John Urie's daughter, Agnes. I have the information that John was born 28 APR 1835 in Airdrie, Scotland. And his parents' names (George and Agnes). That's it. If you have more background from that family backwards, I would love to see it. Please contact me at my direct address: hendejb@comcast.net. Thank you for any information you might have.

I am hoping some kind soul can help me out! The URIES from Rutherglen post back in 2000 was mine and now I've come to a connection that I need help with!

David PARK married Agnes URIE in 1786 in Rutherglen. I am descended from their daughter Marion PARK who was married to Henry AIRTH and they had 14 children, the first 7 baptised in Rutherglen before they emigrated to Renfrew county, Ontario in Canada.

They also had a child named Francis or Frances born April 2 1792 in Rutherglen. I have had 2 scenarios presented to me.

If this child's baptism can't be found, the other way of solving this problem would be to discover the parents' of the Francis PARK who married Agnes PARK in Rutherglen on Dec 4 1814.

The other scenario is that Frances was a girl and married Robert MONTGOMERY in Rutherglen having their first child William MONTGOMERY born May 30 1819.

Many thanks for any and all help!

Maria:
My G-G Grandfather, David Urie born 1828 died 1901, moved to Kansas City MO area after the civil war. He was a captain in the 173rd OVI
He had five children. Two sons, William and David (my G-Grandfather)and three daughters. In my research there were other Uries in the area as well (not sure if close relatives or not) but the family history dictates that anyone spelling U-R-I-E is indeed a relative.

Tom Nolle
If you are still there and still interested, I have recently run across an entry in the 1860 Census that I think is undoubtedly The wife of William Urie. She is at that time the wife of a Pat McCarney and living in Goshen, Belmont County, Ohio. I have not been able to find any further record of her except that her daughter, Maretta, married David R Menke in Pittsburg.
Brandon Finney
bwfinney@fastmail.net

This is a vague sort of request but I'm hoping it might ring bells with someone.

I am actually researching McNaughton/tan's of the Gorbals and beyond and have recently discovered that one Daniel McN was the illegitimate son of Daniel McN snr and ? Urie, daughter of Farmer Urie of Muirhouses. Mother Urie died in the early 1820s and son Daniel went to live with Daniel snr.

In Daniel snr's Will in the 1850s there is some land left to one John Urie - but we have no idea whether there is any connection here or not.

Can anyone help please - so far we have been unable to find any informationr regarding the girl's name or anything else about her for that matter. Daniel jnr would have been born about 1810 (there's some confusion over his age!).

MTIA and with fingers crossed.

Mandy in Winderere

Do you know who either of these families is?
----------------------------------------------------
The 1800 Census for Pennsylvania, York Co., Hopewell Twp., crayon Page 1375, line 7 lists :

Widow Orich, age (45 and over) and one other female, age (16 under 26).
No males are listed.

On adjacent line 8 is a Fred'k Orich family
Males
Under 10: 2
10, under 16: 1
26, under 45: 1 [Fredrick]
Females
Under 10: 2
26, under 45: 1 [Wife of Fredrick]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
A search of 1790 and of 1810 for all Pennsylvania did not find a Widow nor a
Fredrick Orich/Ourie/Oary/Ourey/Urie/Urey/etc.

My interest in these two families is because John Martin, (b. ca 1774, York Co., PA) married, in about 1797, Susanna Ourie. I've been unable to find her parents and siblings.

The "Orich" families in the 1790 census live very near four other Martin families:
Samuel; Peter; Andrew; and James.
Therefor, I'm hoping that the Orich families may be related to Susanna.

But I can't find "Orich" in any census prior to nor after 1800.

Do you have them in your database?

-Bill Martin Denver, CO

My information comes from a written document by my gggreat grandmother concerning the family. It is said that Williams' father was in the service and was stationed there. I guess the family lived close by and that is where he was born. I do not know anything else, other than getting a picture of the castle some years ago with some history.
